Ruken Ataman was born in Muş. She enjoyed a happy childhood and youth in the beautiful forest of Afyon Sugar Factory. She attended Mekteb-i İdadi-i Mülkiye, which she could pronounce correctly only in her second year. In 1998, she entered the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Eskişehir Osmangazi University. For many years, she explained to her students that literature is not just a subject. While working at Darüşşafaka, she served as a preliminary jury member in the 'Ahmet Rasim Essay Writing Competition' and the 'Hişt Hişt! Young Sait Faik Story Competition'. Hoping for a quieter life, she moved to İzmir and became the Department Head at the German Foundation Schools. Realizing that tranquility didn't suit her soul and believing that education in Turkey was too focused on numerical values, she left teaching.
She then wrote the books “Shakespeare Bana Ne Dedi?” and “Tanpınar Bana Ne Dedi?”. She also contributed to the preparation of thematic booklets for Fide Schools. She continues to write with her endless belief in literature. Currently, she is in deep conversation with Tolstoy. Her daughter, Zeynep Şiir, is her best playmate. Her cat, Moni, and her dog, Lisa, are delightful and charming companions in their lives.
Ruken Ataman serves as the General Manager at Fide Schools.
